Inside the French nudist colony where nude sunbathers cycle, shop and even take the kids out for the day
Arnaoutchot is an enormous 45-hectare campsite-village, complete with chalets, cottages, bars and fine dining ... and lots and lots of naked Germans
WHEN you arrive at this community for a holiday, you leave ALL fabrics at the gate.
For the Arnaoutchot naturist colony in south western France is one of the only ones to be completely “textile free” - not a string thong in sight.
According to a survey by nudism lobbyists France 4 naturist, 63 per cent were couples and 23 per cent were families with children.
But only 14 per cent of adherents are younger than 40 years old.
Yet the holiday village’s director of the colony in Vielle-Saint-Girons, Jean-Philippe Pavie, told Lexpress.fr: "In recent years, we have a new generation of people coming in.
“Young couples with or without children who have an average age between 30 and 45 years, for whom naturism is a new experience.”
Wearing only a pair of sunglasses, Heike, a 36-year-old German: "For me, it's perfectly normal to be naked.”
The 45-hectare campsite-village resort has chalets, cottages and bars and on its huge beach there are surfing lessons and other water-sports. There's also organised activities for kids.
